Over 100 Maryland Students participate in Walters Museum Student Showcase
On Saturday, December 1, over 100 students ranging from Kindergarten to 12th grade along with families, educators, and district supervisors celebrated the creative achievements happening in visual art programs throughout the state. 14 school systems including AIMS participated in this year's annual Walters Museum student showcase sponsored by MAEA. After the awards ceremony, where students were honored collectively to receive certificates, a reception followed in the Sculpture Court to view the dynamic exhibit of visual media, capture photo memories of the joyous occasion, and enjoy refreshments. Rabiath Laden, a 12th grader at DuVal High School in PG County, noted that "the event is a big deal to have my work displayed at the Walters Art Museum" and that this kind of recognition has encouraged her to minor in Visual Arts while pursuing her undergrad education. At the middle school level, Daniel Nwokoro, a 6th grader at Golden Ring Middle in Baltimore County, responded to the experience as, "it is breathtaking to see that people like the work that I did."
